Božena („of the god“, „goddess“) was once a mortal vila who became an immortal goddess.

FAMILY OF BOŽENA

Nenad of Dubje mentioned in Veliko rodoslovlje parentage of Božena, who was initially called Mira („of the peace“):
„...Zemlja... bore by herself mortal children, giants and vilas.
Vilas chose for their duchess the eldest among them, Mira, whom Perun married and gave her the name Božena. Their son is Jarilo. He made her a goddess.“

This means Božena was a sister of the giant Vjekoslav and aunt of Crnko.

Božena’s son Jarilo was a god of fertility and spring.

CULT OF BOŽENA

Božena was worshipped with her husband in the temple in Brezovica, where her statue existed. The statue was destroyed by the Christian converts.
